Future dead 04:01
In despair, in my room, can you hear my plight? The candle smoke, is its tears, for it’s lost It’s light Pictures of love, on my phone I can still hear that call I took my eyes, off the prize. Before I knew it, you’d gone Thoughts of you, cloud my head So lost, in despair Thoughts of you, cloud my head Is this future dead? Now you’re only, a memory Moments I can’t forget I tear myself up, with regret How could I let it slip? Thoughts of you, cloud my head So lost, in despair Thoughts of you, cloud my head Is this future dead? Is this future dead? Is this future dead?

I don’t wanna know, that she is walking out with him, I don’t wanna know, that she is holding his hand, I don’t wanna know, that she goes to his room, oh, no! ’cause it hurts so hard, and it cuts so deep, without her here, I can’t, No, I can't sleep, I don’t wanna know, That he sees you brush your hair, I don’t wanna know, that you no longer care, I don’t want to know, That he kisses your neck, ’cause it hurts so hard, and it cuts so deep, without her here, I can’t, No, I can't sleep, I don’t wanna know, That she is, happy now, I don’t wanna know, That I must let her go, ’cause it hurts so hard, and it cuts so deep, without her here, I can’t, No, I can't, No, I can't sleep.

What is love? they say it’s blind I told
it’s something you can’t see
something you can’t even hold Who is God?
lives in heaven, I believe
is he someone we made up?
someone to help us grieve What is a soul? it’s supposed to live on could it be just a spark? a flick of a switch and it’s gone
are we lost on a satellite?
 spinning around,
in the endless light
are we lost on a satellite?
love, I know,
is only, tangled light What is fate? can it be ever changed? or are we just like string tied to its resting place Who am I? a guy who fell for you now I’m lost in space Someone without a clue
are we lost on a satellite?
spinning around,
in the endless light
are we lost on a satellite?
love, I know, is only, tangled light
are we lost on a satellite?
 spinning around,
in the endless light
are we lost on a satellite?
love, I know,
is only, tangled light are we lost on a satellite?
 spinning around,
in the endless light
are we lost on a satellite?
love, I know,
is only, tangled light

Sphere 03:17
When it’s dark, beyond the light, Shadows creep slow Air is heavy, It strangles light. The lamp light, flicker, glows Whatever it is drawing you near Creeping closer it makes you fear Tell yourself it's just a dream But the panic invades your sphere Early hours, before the coming dawn, The restless thoughts, they grow My head in turmoil, from the endless wine, but it's the only cure I know Whatever it is drawing you near Creeping closer it makes you fear Tell yourself it's just a dream But the panic invades your sphere Sun appears through curtains hope to face another day Tell myself, it will be alright It’s the only thing I can say Whatever it is drawing you near Creeping closer it makes you fear Tell yourself it's just a dream But the panic invades your sphere

Sleet blows in her face Wind through her hair She just doesn’t care And going nowhere Clothes torn and worn She shuffles along I ask her, “what’s wrong?” Is she broken? or just unwanted? Or just wants someone? She’s haunted by the ghost of her Son that didn’t come home from the War in the desert sands What good did it do for them? Now she spends her days tending for The garden of the fallen souls She dreams of the day When she’ll see him again But it won’t be too long Until their hearts are whole once more She’s haunted by the ghost of her Son that didn’t come home from the War in the desert sands What good did it do for them? Now she spends her days tending for The garden of the fallen souls

Capo 2 It was just a look, then a movement A simple smile he can't ignore He makes a move, starts to listen Her stories, make him want her more They move on, things get closer, Before they know it, where time has gone? One year on, things seem different, Where has all the magic of this gone? (She says) Her Tears are just the dust Caught on the wind Her Tears are just the dust Caught on the wind Her Tears are just the dust Caught on the wind Because some words, cant be unspoken the simple facts he can’t ignore she looks away, says she’s leaving love don’t live here anymore There’s someone else that she wants more… (She says) Her Tears are just the dust Caught on the wind Her Tears are just the dust Caught on the wind Her Tears are just the dust Caught on the wind He tells his friends, they don’t see it He’ll be fine, just let it go But people say, times a healer but what if you’re broken to the core? (He says) His Tears are not the dust Caught on the wind His Tears are not the dust Caught on the wind His Tears are not the dust Caught on the wind

No colours 04:45
No flames of shimmering orange glow pinks and purples and poppies red no forty shades of forest greens all eyes are grey in their heads when you left and went away you drained my colours left me here in black and white and many shades of grey Lego bricks look the same a strawberry tastes of grey favourite skittle hard to find all the balloons pale away when you left and went away you drained my colours left me here in black and white and many shades of grey and many shades of grey the sun she sparkles bright white light no brilliant sunsets to see in the sky my flowers they all blossom drab birds of paradise colourless fly when you left and went away you drained my colours left me here in black and white and many shades of grey and many shades of grey and many shades of grey

The sea is different with every roll Rivers in constant change Clouds every second It will never be the same again The virgin snow always melts away
Summer gives way to fall
When the flowers bloom, they’ll soon die away They will never be the same again The last rays of the summer days Hold onto the heat of the day
Watch the flames dance in the fire pit They will never be the same again They will never be the same, Never be the same Never be the same, Never be the same
They will never be the same again
Never be the same again Watch the yellow light turn to grey Raindrops start to fall
Flowers close their petals like shields They will never be the same again Every day something changes You learn to grow or forget
A first touch, last kiss in a way You will never be the same again They will never be the same, Never be the same, Never be the same, never be the same,
They will never be the same again, Never be the same again They will never be the same, Never be the same, Never be the same, Never be the same
They will never be the same again
Never be the same again A baby grows with every passing day
The baby is now a girl
One day she’ll break the heart of some fool He will never be the same again They will never be the same, Never be the same, Never be the same, Never be the same
They will never be the same again
Never be the same again They will never be the same, Never be the same, Never be the same, Never be the same
They will never be the same again
Never be the same again

Does this queue matter You’ll soon lose your place Do the rules matter? They’re a construct of ages Let it all pass Let it all pass Does your make-up matter covers a beautiful face Does this song matter There’s no sound in space Let it all pass Let it all pass We’ve all become rats Strive for things we can’t have Those photos, just make you sad Can’t take it when we pass
Does your house matter should it just keep you safe? If it gives you pleasure You should make it your aim Let it all pass Let it all pass We’ve all become rats Strive for things we can’t have Those photos, just make you sad Can’t take it when we pass Do you do what matters? Or just live out your days Make the moments matter, They’re, gone in a flash Let it all pass Let it all pass Let it all pass Let it all pass

That book 02:56
They take you places that seem so far Light up your world like a billion stars You found yourself in shades of grey Dark passions alive on the Yorkshire Dales Juliet, your love, your heart, your soul To be with you, would be a lifetimes goal What if all I have, is my, suffering? That book will take you far That book will take you far You saw, the fields, of blood and song The horse who knew from right and wrong You held your breath, when the Queen was slain You learned to climb inside his skin You watched this world Fall apart That book will take you far That book will take you far That book will take you far That book will take you far

Let It All Pass serves as a mirror, reflecting life's fleeting moments and deeper questions, inviting listeners to reflect and feel music in the album form.

Singer/songwriter, Chris Swales says, “I wanted to make an album that had the same feel of R.E.M.'s ‘Automatic For The People’, layered with melancholy, melody and majesty. I still remember how that album changed my listening. It was a conduit for me to discover so much more great music. Let It All Pass touches me like AFTP. I hope others get to hear it, and if I’m lucky, it might resonate with them the way it did me.”

Desert Life is the moniker of singer-songwriter Chris Swales, and multi-instrumentalist Tom Jordan. Their music crosses styles and genres; sombre Indie Folk, rousing Alt-Country, and emotive Americana. Chris’ musical career story began as a series of false starts….

Chris’ first live performance was in the mid-90’s. Despite a few years of gigging and record label showcases, he decided to hang up his performing shoes and “get a real job”. However, when music is part of your DNA, you can never really let it go. He built a home, took time off work to look after his daughter and then the universe allowed Chris time to rekindle his passion. As any parent does, you cherish the quiet moments, but he used this time to start writing songs again and slowly began to find himself. An off-the-cuff request by a friend, Brian Mackenzie, to convert his poem into a song, opened a door to melody and melancholy. A light went on and confidence crept back. He hired Mwnci Studios, brought in some musician friends, Steve & Andy Williams, session drummer, Jack Beddis and released his first song “Not My Girl” under his desert life guise. Global exposure didn’t follow, but a quiet achievement gained by being played by BBC Wales’ Adam Walton.

Releases, “Whisper To The Wind”, “My Darling Friend”, and “No Colours” followed.

After a release hiatus (due to welcoming Child #2), Chris started working with multi-instrumentalist Tom Jordan and no sooner had the momentum started, the global pandemic raised its walls. Having had more time to write songs, the world started to open up and he seized the opportunity to book regular studio time with local Producer, Nick Swannell at his Studio 49 to record the album. To bring his vision to life, he pulled together a unique collection of musicians that included Jason Downes (drums), Richie Evans (double bass), George Whitfield (Accordion), Daisy Whitfield (Cello), Huw Rees (drums) and Jon Graboff (Ryan Adams and the Cardinals, Norah Jones, Willie Nelson) to remotely record Pedal-Steel Guitar.

The result is an album that carries the listener through different genres, all slightly different, and yet all connected. From Indie-folk to alt-country, from lo-fi to Spaghetti Western. Let It All Pass stirs the soul with its melancholic yet melodious sound, and provides a cinematic soundtrack that captures the attention of the listener.
