about
"I Don't Wanna Know" is the first single from our album "Let it all pass", which will be released in September 2023.
From the first note to the last, “I don’t wanna know” sounds as if it was written on the back roads of Nashville, rather than near the sandy beaches of Tenby (where desert life is based). The upbeat acoustic guitar and soaring pedal steel guitar make you want to put on cowboy boots rather than a wetsuit, but alas, like many alt-country songs, it's all about heartbreak. It's a tale of how a man's heart sank as he received word of his ex-girlfriend's newfound love and the cruel realization that he wouldn't be getting a second chance.
It was produced by Nick Swannell (Studio 49 Narberth) and includes Jon Graboff on lap steel guitar, who has played on records by Ryan Adams and the Cardinals, Norah Jones, Willy Nelson, and Noel Gallagher (amongst others)
lyrics
I don’t wanna know,
that she is walking out with him,
I don’t wanna know,
that she is holding his hand,
I don’t wanna know,
that she goes to his room,
oh, no!
’cause it hurts so hard,
and it cuts so deep,
without her here,
I can’t,
No, I can't sleep,
I don’t wanna know,
That he sees you brush your hair,
I don’t wanna know,
that you no longer care,
I don’t want to know,
That he kisses your neck,
’cause it hurts so hard,
and it cuts so deep,
without her here,
I can’t,
No, I can't sleep,
I don’t wanna know,
That she is, happy now,
I don’t wanna know,
That I must let her go,
’cause it hurts so hard,
and it cuts so deep,
without her here,
I can’t,
No, I can't,
No, I can't sleep.

"Heroine" and "Bones" kept appearing in my 'randomizer' and I kept on thinking "who is this?", eventually I started digging and I was left wide eyed when I found out it was Justin Vernon (Bon Iver!)' Desert Life
